    Hi, roge' muller!

I read the artist's signature to be Barton. Would you agree that it might be the name of the artist?

    Thanks!

I've looked for oil paintings by Barton on the Internet.

There is one that is similar in style, that you can see via clicking on the following link.

Nude Oil on Canvas Painting by Barton in Wooden Frame - eBay (item 350150946022 end time Feb-07-09 15:55:08 PST)

It's being sold for $450.00. The signature isn't identical, but very similar because of the color used, general shape, and where it's placed on the painting.

Now, to be really sure of an approximate monetary value, I would suggest taking the painting to an art gallery, where someone knows the works of artists that may have been local or an auctioneer who specializes in the auctioning of works of art.

What a work of art is worth monetarily is greatly dependent upon what someone is willing to pay for it as well as how established and prolific an artist is, to name a couple of factors.

My opinion, is that what you have is worth a great deal of money beyond that which I've referenced in the link that I provided, and that to find out how much it might potentially would be worth, I would suggest getting more than one opinion.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments, roge' muller! They are much appreciated!

I really do think that you have something that is of considerable value.

Is what you have, not in a frame of any kind?

    Thanks!

Hi was wondering if you found out any information on the artist? I have a painting with the same signature. Found it in the trash and I live in Canada.

I will take a chance and say it may be Loren Roberta Barton. She did a lot of nude subjects and the style is consistent. Good luck & good to be back at answering!
