Heater turns off and won't turn back on
While waiting for my heater expert to come and take a look at the heater, I'm trying to figure out if the problem is with my heater or thermostat. I don't know the make/model of my heater as it is on the roof, but my thermostat is a Hunter #44110.

The heater does several different things on any given day. Sometimes at night when it reaches the desired temp. it turns off and then will not turn on in the morning. Other times, like right now, it only went up to 64 instead of the set temp 68 and then it shut off. I just turned up the thermostat really high and got nothing.

The only way I can get it to work is to go out and turn the electrical panel breaker off and then back on. It doesn't appear to be an issue with the breaker it just resets the system. When I do this, sometimes the heater will run perfectly for a week or so and other times it will run for 10-15 minutes and then stop all over again. It's driving me crazy and I'm cold.

The first time my heater service man came out, he explained to me the importance of replacing the filter (it wasn't that dirty, but it could've been cleaner). We replaced it, he checked the system and it worked fine for a few days after that. But then it started all over again.

Could it be something as simple as the thermostat? It's only 3 years old. I don't want to buy another one unless it could be a possibility.

When I click the thermostat to fan "on" the fan clicks on, and I've tried the air conditioner and that seems to click on, although I don't leave it on very long because I'm trying to conserve all the hot air I have.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you!:)

I would be shocked if it were your thermostat. Your heater is most likely locked out on a safety fault. If you check the circuit board it very well might have a little LED flashing to coincide with the trouble.
