    Lost retainer.
    Hi,
I was wondering if I got my braces off around October and I wore my braces up until January (because I lost them) will I need to get a new pair of retainers to complete the treatment? Or will they just stay as they are now (nice and straight lol)?

Your teeth will slowly move back to where they were before you had your braces. You should definitely have a new retainer made. Why don't you ask them to put a permanent one in then you don't have to worry about losing it again??

I agree with Flossie. I had my teeth straightened with braces when I was in my early teens. I had the braces off and had a retainer to wear at night. After a few months of wearing the retainer I got tired of wearing it thinking just like you that my teeth were "done" and stopped wearing the retainer at night. Well, I can tell you first hand that one of my teeth that was the worst, started shifting back into the old position it was in before it was straightened. If I had it to do over again YES I would have worn that retainer much, much longer and had a beautiful smile versus a beautiful smile with one screwed up tooth. But then I was a teenager who knew it all.

Yes, definitely go have new retainers made! Even if you only wear them at night (which should be sufficient), that'll help maintain that beautiful smile that you SUFFERED TO GET! Think: do you really want all that pain to go to waste?
