Electric Hot Water Heater keeps shutting itself off
Hello, I have a 1 1/2 story house and the hot water heater is in an unheated section of the home, (off the upstairs bathroom in the attic) I noticed there was no hot water yesterday and shrugged it off to the temperature outside, (Below freezing temps for the first time in my area last night) that being said I popped off the control panel and hit the reset button and then had hot water again, now at 9:00 P.M. appx 16 hours after hitting the reset button for the first time it was off again and I now have no hot water. I just reset the button again and now it is warming again. Is this due to cold outside temps. I am by no means a handy man, and am also not trying to buy a new water heater if not necessary. Thanks for any pointers.

You could have a short somewhere. It has nothing to do with the outside temperature. Something is going. It could be the relay, the element, could even be the wiring. Would suggest you call in someone to properly diagnose the problem unless you know how to test the individual components properly and safely.
