You'll need to be more specific please. What is abnormal about your period? Do you know your most fertile days? Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? Do you drink/smoke/do drugs? How old are you?

Perhaps if you could include some details of the problem you have ?
3 Months is not at all a long time to be trying. If after 12 months nothing has happened then a GP would maybe take a further look into this for you.

With irregular cycles, it becomes a bit more difficult to determine when you are most likely ovulating. First step would be to see your doctor to determine whether there is a cause for your irregular cycles. Sometimes being on birth control pills for a short while, for example, may help regulate them. Sometimes it is simply the norm for you to not have regular periods.

As mum2five said, 3 months is not long for trying... even though it may seem that way when you are hoping to become pregnant. Most couples will be pregnant within about a year of trying.

If you notice changes in discharge throughout a cycle you may see when your body is preparing to ovulate. Often the discharge will become more fluid and clear right before ovulation. Other women will track changes in their morning temp, some find ovulation predictor kits work for them (however they can be costly when you have irregular cycles). All of these can take a few months to notice a pattern. Others still just make sure they have sex on a very regular basis.

Definitely speak to your doctor; have a preconception visit, and discuss your particular situation.

Just saw your other post where you mentioned that you are not taking prenatals. It would be a wise move to start taking them now while you are trying to get pregnant. Besides helping to insure that you are getting many of the nutrients that you need, they also provide folic acid. Folic acid is known to help prevent certain birth defects that occur very early in pregnancy. Many women don't even know they are pregnant when this occurs, so having adequate amounts of folic acid prior to conception is very important. You can get the same thing with a good multivitamin. Look for at least 400 mcg of folic acid. This, along with many of the foods and drinks that are now fortified (orange juice for example) will be a good start.
