First, let me say thanks lawanwadee for your informational links and expert advice. I've read the sticky and read most of your links related to felons and the admission to Canada, in particular I have read the data at the link: Inadmissibility - Deemed Rehabilitation.

I'm in the United States. I've been offered a job by a Canadian doing work for the upcoming Olympics. I've informed him I have a felony conviction dating back to 1985. He informed me that he did not think that I would have much of a problem applying for work in Canada and they have a couple of guys there now that they thought would not get through. The duration of the project is two years and he informed me that I'll need a two year work visa.

From the information provided I understand there is no paperwork in the case of being Deemed Rehabilitated, I should check with the nearest Consulate to make sure I meet the requirements before entry.

I've reviewed the, "Application for Work Permit Made Outside of Canada", and therein question 19 (c) Have you or any member of your family ever: Committed, been arrested or charged with a criminal offence in any country?

I must answer yes.

Question 19 (d) Been refused admission to, or ordered leave Canada?

I tried entry many years ago and was refused. I must answer yes.

Q: This Deemed Rehabilitation seems a bit perplexing, particularly when when the readings state no paper work is required but when filing out the Work Permit Data, that data is required. Given the particulars of this case what do you recommend? Where will I find the path of least resistance?

If you are going to work for 2 years, you can't just apply for visitor's visa. You need employment visa... ask your employer to take care of this matter. Recommend having immigration attorney to file the petition on his/her behalf plus filing a waiver for your criminal record, etc.
