It could be a urinary tract infection or an infected prostate (if it's male). It can also be a uterine infection (female) or stones. You need to get your dog to the vet promptly. If it's an infection you'll need to begin antibiotics as soon as possible. If it's something more serious, then all the more reason to get the vet involved.

Just one more piece of advice: If Altenweg comes along and posts something, do whatever she says. I haven't seen her be wrong yet.

Awww, that's so sweet. I've been wrong, I just delete those posts. ;)

To the OP, it really is important to get you dog to the vet asap, we can't give you an accurate diagnosis here, there are too many possibilities.

This shouldn't be left untreated, if it's serious you dog could go downhill very quickly.

Please keep us posted, let us know how things go.

    Good luck.

Has your dog been outside unattended? Could your dog have been poisoned? That is another reason to get your dog to the vet ASAP. Poisoning can cause blood in their urine also.

    Please keep us updated!
