Make sure its booting from the hard drive, but it indicates the hard drive isn't being read and may havew completely crashed.

I am certainly no computer expert but I just went through a similar problem, only mine said Int. Exp. Is not working. I have been on the phone with dell for 3 days. It didn't solve the problem but one of the first things they had me do was to reload the operating system from the disk that came with the computer which took about two hours. They also suggested system restore but I had already done that. My problem turned out to be interference from start up programs. I am a novice. I can only say what happened to me.

This is a very big difference. With your system Windows was loading. With the OP its not reading the hard drive at all.
