Verizon USB UM175 Pantech Air/Data Card Can't Connect
I have a Verizon USB UM175 Pantech Air/Data Card. I got a brand new USB card and went through the set up process successfully. Everything says connected and seems to be working correctly. But when I try to go to a web page in IE7 or Opera I get "The web page cannot be displayed" message. I was on the phone with Verizon tech support for almost two hours with two different people checking all my settings and troubleshooting. They said to exchange the air card. I exchanged the aircard and still have the same problem. I did receive a message that says "Cannot communicate with primary DNS server. I am running Windows Vista. Please help!

If worse comes to worse, you can try a free public DNS server. I'll assume you're windows XP. If you go into Network Connections from Control panel, right click your Air Card, and go to properties. Click on Internet Protocol, and click properties. You can manually specify the DNS servers. In a pinch, I use 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2.

If this works, you know it's a problem with the service you're getting from Verizon. If it doesn't, then there is probably an issue with your configuration.

I'd like to hook up Verizon's broadband service to my home computer, however I do not have a laptop. Because we live in the middle of nowhere and satellite internet is cost prohibitive, the Verizon service would be perfect. SOOO tired of Qwest and dialup. Our computer is a 3 year old Dell. I...
