Chihuahua, 14 weeks old, female, thin, active
What type of puppy food would put more weight on her. We have used soft and hard foods. She eats good but doesn't gain. Some of her ribs show. Has been wormed , no worms. Does anyone have suggestions to try?

Firstly, congratulations on your new addition! I've got 4 Chihuahuas from 16 weeks to 3 years.
Anyway, it's possible that your pup will end up being very small. Our male is 3.3 lbs full grown. He's bony all the time and we haven't been able to fatten him up in the year and a half we've had him. Does she have some meat on her bones right after she eats? Even though she's been dewormed it's possible that she may still have some. Just keep any eye out and if she starts acting strange take her to the vet. Otherwise, as long as you feel she's getting enough to eat, she should be just fine! |
