P1404 speaks to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.
It
can be removed, but I wouldn't try cleaning it. This particular valve is a digital linear valve and unless you can clean it thoroughly, it will fail again. Same thing with one from a salvage yard: you may be installing virtually the same problem.
There are two nuts (#4) that mount the EGR but there may also be a fuel line sharing a mounting bolt. Make sure you clean the mounting surface (#3) and replace the gasket (#2).
Spendy? Yes, they are a little. Shop around.
