The rear bearing for my Frigidaire dryer has a three screw holes and another larger hole in it.

What is the purpose of the larger hole?

There is just 3 screws that hold the ball hitch section of the rear drum bearing. Where is the other one you are talking about?

The flat plate of the rear bearing has three equidistant holes to which the back of the drum is attached with the three screws. Between two of the screw holes in the bearing there is a hole that is approximately 3/8" to 1/2" in diameter. This is the hole that I am referring to. A picture of the bearing kit showing the hole in the bearing may be attached to this message.

I have no idea. Does the big hole line up with a big hole in the drum when it screws on? Could also be a production hanger hole which just allows it to hang on the machine to center the smaller holes with. Something like a manufacturing guide? Unless it is critical to the assembly I would not worry about it. Take a good look at the drum to see if it has a big hole that will line up with it.

Thank you.. I have the drum reassembled and did so without looking at the hole. This was done a week ago. Just bugs me that the old one and the new one had the hole and I didn't think about it when reassembling the unit. Perhaps I will take the short time to open up the system and look. Can do it in about 15 minutes.
