    Rape Charges?
We live in Texas. I have a friend who is being charged with rape charges. A detective has already contacted him and wants to hear his side of the story. He is unsure if he should call them back and give his side of the story. The reason he is hesitant in calling them back is if this situation gets worse for them to use this against him later on. I know this guy for a long time and I know he ain't capable of committing this crime.

First he really should get a lawyer because often words can be twisted to make him look worse.
A lot depends on what happened because she can be crying rape when it may have been consensual. So again he needs a lawyer to help him with proof he might not even think about. Or she may have been leading him on and not stopped him but not told him it was okay. Then it becomes even more of a he said/she said. Usually that ends up against the guy.

My suggestion to him would be to consult an attorney, but to definitely by in contact with them or they will come and get him.

He should get an Attorney - NOW!

A lot of people consider it consensual - and then they think it over or sober up or whatever. An Attorney needs to find out what the allegations are.

In the meantime, as others have said, the Attorney advises the Police that he has legal representation.

He does not talk to anyone without an attorney, he talks to the attorney, tells the attorney the truth, even if it is 100 percent guilty, he tells the attorney the truth, then the attorney tells him what is best to do.

Perhaps saying nothing, perhaps telling his side, but nothing without an attorney
