    My Chihuahua Is Getting Bald?
Help! My Chihuahua seems to be of good health but I see that he is getting bald on his crown; mostly towards the left and right of his head, towards his ears.

I can't seem to make of it and I haven't seen his vet.

I hope someone can help us! Thank you!

How old is your Chihuahua? Is he/she long or short haired? Have you noticed any excessive scratching in the area?

My short haired Chihuahua has thin patches right in front of her ears. She always has, but now that she's getting older, they seem to be more defined.

It's possible that he/she could be having an allergic reaction to something. Food, bedding, clothing, etc. It's also possible that the dog could have some kind of skin parasite. However, if the loss is centralized to only those areas, and the dog is short haired, I wouldn't be too terribly worried. Feel free to get him/her checked, but it's not uncommon for short haired Chihuahuas to have thinning hair near their ears!

We can't give you an accurate diagnosis, I would definitely make a trip to the vet. It could be an ear infection that is causing a lot of itching and scratching which of course would cause hair loss. It could also be a skin condition or reaction, or fleas. There are too many possibilites, best to get it checked.

    Good luck.

My chihuahua has no hair on his head by his ears, and also no hair on his belly. He doesn't scartch a lot, that is just how he was born and I think it is down-right adorable!
