    Soapy water in the toilet
When I do laundry, I'm getting soapy bubbles in the toilet and water is also coming up through my bathtub. Do you have a suggestion?

    Thanks,

I'm not a plumber, but all that would seem to suggest a blockage somewhere in your piping. I had a similar problem a few years back, not as bad as what you have, but I used a proprietary cleaner that contained Caustic soda crystals, you add the crystals to the drain and add some boiling water and leave for an hour and it eats through the blockage, you then pour down normal detergent to wash away any fats that are left.

There is also a piece of hardware called a "mechanical snake", that is pretty cheap to buy, you push it into the drain and rotate the handle and it pushes its way down till its get to the blockage, although I never could get use to it (I used it first).

John nailed it! You have a blockage downstream from the bathroom that should be snaked. (I don'[t have much faith in using harsh chemicals in your drainage system.) Thius can be snaked from one of two areas.
You may snake from the lavatory roof vent or pull the toilet and snake from there. If you snake from the roof vent put out enough snake to reach the base and 20 feet more. I would suggest renting a sewer machine,(see image) from your local Rent-All;. Good luck, Tom
