How to block a web page
Could someone tell me how to block a web page ? I have small children and we have the security set on high. Some web pages get through however (not many one or two) I think if I can block just those as they pop up it would help. Thanks for any help.

    There are sites like netnanny.com
But often the sites block sites that you do not want blocked as well
They often block any sites that use paypal or have stuff you can order online.
I don't think there are many things, if any, you can do to just block one or two sites.

    Hi, Tigerjeff!

There is free software out there available that you can use. Please click on the following links.

Free Web Page Monitor for Children - Google Search

Free Internet Parental Control for Children - Google Search

Free Internet Filtering Software for Children - Google Search

There are also some free web browsers that you could download that would be safe for children to use.

Free Children's Browser - Google Search

I remember one web browser for children that I downloaded a number of years ago and it wouldn't even let me get to the obituaries on one of the local newspaper sites!

Hopefully, someone will happen to come along who is currently using software for that purpose and will be able to give you a first-hand recommendation.

    Thanks!

    Check out SafeSquid.
Download and install the free version.

To block specific websites, in the SafeSquid web GUI, go to Config > URL Filter > Deny > Add and add the hosts you want to block in the HOSTS field, e.g. - (abc.com|xyz.com|123.com)

You can use the URL Blacklist database from shallalist.de along with SafeSquid to block various categories like porn, adult, etc.

If you would also like to block nude pictures, install PicBlock.

Your best bet is to make a user account for your kids.. that would be in your start menu, then control panel, user accounts, then create the users... then you can put parental control on each account, set up what YOU want them to play or what sites you want them on... you can also set up a time limit on how long their on the computer, that's what I did for my daughter.. it blocks a lot of sites she wants to go, and the only way she can get in is if I OK it.. I have a password that I type in to let her in.. But only if I think the site is OK... that is really the best way to do it..
