    Cold Air Returns
Our home is 30'x50' inside diameter. We have a kitchen, dining room and front room in a row with no dividing walls. We have three cold air returns, 1 in each area and the one in the front room blows down on my back in the winter when I sit on the couch. I wrote another site and the response was our furnace needs the cold air return. I did not mention how our house is situated. We also have a cold air return in each of our 2 bedrooms. Do we really need that many and is it possible to close off the one above our couch. Thanks for any and all responses.

    Confused?

Cold air returns suck and don't blow.

You can purchase deflectors for registers.

three cold air returns, blows down on my back in the winter
Are you sure the blow down back is a cold return? A cold air return is good in each room providing it's a balance application and not to big or bad location and sucks the heat out before the heat does it job. The down the neck is not normal it should suck air in if thats a cold air return. Are these 'air returns on a wall stack Hi Lo in line with each other? The Air down back may be a back draft on the other connect returns. Yes since you have other air returns Temp. close off "down the back" and see what that does for you and how the room infected. You can get air deflectors for the air register
