The first thing I would suspect would be the hot water outlet heat trap nipple,(see image) if you have them coming out of your heater. Do you flush your heater on a regular maintenance schedule? Back to you, Tom

sherih33: hot water starts at water heater, meaning, if you have no hot water in entire house than you should start with the source. Go to elec. Panel and see if circuit breaker is in ON position. Then, check if thermostats are set as they should be ( at 125F). There is a pressure relieve valva mounted on the heater. It has small spring loaded handle on it. Open the handle for second. See if water comes out. (Careful: step back so you don't get spray of hot water in your face. It is pressure loaded. Also, wear good gloves ). If you live in very cold climate, you may have frozen incoming cold water line. Is you heater in basement ? Or on the exterior in a metal enclosure ?
