    Gas Furnace Problems
    Here's my problem...
    I have a gas furnace that is relatively new, about 5 years old. It has an automatic water feeder and I have drained it and it refilled itself. The pilot light is on, and I have just changed the thermostat from the "yo-yo" to a digital one. I have tried connecting the two wires together and that does not work. Although last night the wires touched together and I did get a little spark, but now nothing. It seems possessed... LOL The temp is set to 75 and right now it does not come on at all. It seems to come on when it wants to... Anybody have any ideas? It is going down to 20 tonight with 25MPH winds... Nothing like an artic chill with no heat. Thanks for any help.

    I have tried connecting the two wires together and that does not work=====what 2 wires?

    It has an automatic water feeder and I have drained it and it refilled itself===have never seen a gas furnace with a water feeder of any type

    it would help us to know what kind of furnace you have,, model number

    most all furnaces that are only 5 years old don`t have a pilot light

    I`m sure someone can help you,if they had better and more information

    Sounds like a steam boiler, and if it's only 5 years old I would expect it has an intermittent ignition. Does the pilot stay on at all times, or only when you jump the thermostat wires together?

    I was thinking of maybe a boiler,, just wanted to see if the home owner knew what he had:)

    OK... Hot water is fed into the furnace/boiler, it has a pilot light underneath that stays lit all the time. I was just down there looking at it and I should have wrote it down.
    The 2 wires = the wires that run from the "stat" to the furnace.
    Yo Yo = Honeywell manual "stat" that is round in shape, that looks like a yo yo.

    I took the cover off, and well then it started up... LOL I figure it is some kind of ignition, but have no idea what that looks like... because once it came on, I had someone turn the stat off and it went off, and then turn it back on and it went on. But now once it went on, it stayed on and then it went off, but the pilot light is still on.

    I hope that gives a better idea. Next time I am down there, which will be soon, I will get model number, etc...
