Kenmore 80 series washer not completely draining
I have a Kenmore 80 series washer. Whenever a load is done, I open it and there is still quite a bit of water left in it. I have to run it through the spin cycle 2 to 3 times to get all the water completely out. Also, once it starts the spin cycle, I get this weird smell, almost like a burning smell. I'm assuming something is going bad in it, but I'd like to get some suggestions so I'll be a bit educated when the repair people come to look at it. Thanks! :)

There are a few different items that can cause this problem

The drive belt if so equipped could be defective causing slippage and lack of pumping ability. This could also cause the smell since the rubber belt will be getting hot.

It could be a defective pump.
It could be a small sock or something else that went to the outer tub that is now stuck in the pump area causing the pump not to turn and that will also cause the belt to smell from being over heated.

Worst case situation is that the transmission is starting to hang up internally putting a drag on the belt. This is when it starts to get expensive.

If you have the tools and the knowledge you can tear into the unit and try to find the problem if not it is time to call the repair man.
