I was just wondering, but my friend told me that a period doesn't last very long when you are using tampons and it lasts longer when you are using pads.. is this true?

Well you she did.. its hard to explain on the computer though.. umm she said that it was because a tampon catches the blood faster or something

Im not expert but I've used both and it never changed the length of my period.
The only thing that did do that to me was when I was on the pill.

Someone told me that once, something to the effect that it blocks some of the flowing and it clots. It has been a while but that was the jest of it. I do not think that is true. It certainly did not make a differnce with me. Times I wish it would have been so. :)

If it was true then it would be bad thou, to have clot, especially!
You want it to flow all out with no clots.

I personally prefer to use panty liners. I don't feel right with tampons on.

No, of course it is not true. Each woman has a certain amount of menarche build up every month. Period... It will flow the same amount whether you use tampons or pads. You just may NOTICE less when you wear tampons because the flow is not visible every time you use the bathroom, but the amount of flow is still the same, so is the length of time you are on your period.

Once we on this question, can I ask u :- which is better to use? Tampon or pads?

It really does not matter, whichever one you are most comfortable with. However, you do have to remember that you can run a possible risk of toxic shock syndrome using tampons.

Tampons need to be changed as often as pads to prevent that risk. Some women believe that because it is a heavy duty tampon that they can leave them in longer, that is when you are playing with the possibility of toxic shock syndrome.

Maybe that myth came from the Kotex company to up their sales and down tampons.:) Having girls I wondered why I never bought stock in the company.
