Changing my name on the deed to my house
The deed to my house has my prior married name on it. Must I change it to my current legal name before selling the house. If so, how do I go about changing it... Live in Ohio.

No, you don't have to change your name on the deed if you can legally prove it is you when it comes time to sell the home. Your divorce paperwork showing that you had your maiden name restored or your current marriage license showing the name on the deed was your married name at that time will suffice. You didn't say if you were divorced or remarried.

    Twinkiedooter, thank you.

    Here is the name-changing-scenario:
Married and divorced... (name on deed)...
    Second marriage and divorced...
    Name legally changed... (current name)

My lawyer forewarned me of the possible paper-chase and here it is!

I don't see a problem - I sold a condo held in my previous married name. On closing I signed Judy X also known as Judy Z. No problem.
