My dogs are confined - I have a fenced acre - but they get all their vaccines every year. I think if you can afford it it's a good idea. If you can't, well, sometimes some things have to slip by.

Hello,
Yes, personally I would get the Parvo vaccination, that is such a contagious disease that I would not want to take the chance. I had a 13 year old springer spaniel (Clifford) that passed away from it even though he had the vaccine he was just too old to fight it off, he passed away at the vet's office where they had him hospitalized on IV's, it is such a terrible disease for dogs.
On the other hand I struggle with always getting my dogs heartworm check every year, I give them the chewable pills every month and now the vet is starting to say if you give them the pills every month you don't have to have the blood check until every three years so that is what I am doing for that.
Anyway, I agree with everyone else so far that it is a personal choice on which vaccinations you want to go with, good luck!

It's so confusing sometimes to know what is the best way to go. I guess all you can do is do your research, and weigh the pro's and con's, and then try and make an informed decision, to the best of your ability.

You may also need to factor in the area in which you live, how often he is in contact with other people, strange dogs, new places and any area that may be a cesspool for illness. Do you take your dog to places like the dog park or petsmart where other dogs frequent?
