I don't know that you can fix it - the holder of the mortgage won't negotiate?

Have you tried the various County and State Offices which are attempting to offer assistance to homeowners in your position - ?

Are you able to make the monthly payments?

You must diligently contact your mortgage company & ask for a loan modification. 1st they will offer you a forbearance, where they lower the payments for a period to help you get back on track, putting the default amount on the back end of the loan. They will offer this before discussing a loan modification.

You must supply them with a hardship letter explaining why this default has occurred, documents they request: paycheck stubs, year end taxes, bank statements, etc.

It is very time consuming & you must stick with it to obtain results.

All you can do is call the lender and try and work some deal up. Are you able to make payments at this point and time?
