New pup, won't eat or drink
We just got a 4 month old Yorkie pup last night. So far he hasn't eaten anything except one little treat, and that took him a while, and he hasn't had anything but a couple of sips of water. He has very little energy and seems to be quite shy of us. He'll only come around if we get on the floor too. He hasn't even chewed on anything when he's out of his kennel. He barked only for a few moments, maybe 15 minutes last night when I put him in his new kennel for bed. Since then he hasn't made a sound. Could that have caused him some emotional damage, just letting him bark for a little while? He's a real cuddler, but I am afraid there might be something wrong because all he has done is lay around. He just isn't acting like a 4 month old pup.

This is all new to him, and he's settling in. Give him some time to adjust. Make sure that he's urinating and defecating normally, if not then it's time to worry.
It's normal for a new pup to be tired and a bit blasé. Just keep a close eye out. If his eating and drinking habits don't improve in the next few days then it may be time to call the vet.
Also, are you feeding your pup the same diet he had before you got him? Changing foods can be hard on a dogs tummy. If you want to switch foods it's best to do it gradually, mixing his old food in with the new a bit more each day until you have switched completely.
If he has runny bowel movements or isn't urinating then call your vet immediately. But again, runny bowels can be because of diet change.
All in all don't worry so much. As for the barking in his kennel, he's not a child, he's a dog. You won't permanently damage him emotionally, each day is a new day for him.
Find your inner dog, that's the best you can do. Treat him like a human and you'll have nothing but problems.
Cesar Millan has a few great books out, he's incredible and his approach to raising dogs is amazing and works.
Good luck with your new pup. :)

Dogs are senseitive to new surroundings and need time to adjust. I got a five year old dog from a shelter last year and she did not eat for two days when we first brought her home. Once they become more familiar they will eat and play as you expect. Don't discount the value of the crate it became my dogs room it is the place she is comfortable, the kids know to leave her alone when she is there.
My vet does not agree with leaving food out all day for grazing if it is not finished in twenty minutes it is removed. However it never last that long and we feed twice a day. I have found petfinder.com to be helpful with training and behavior help and ideas.
Good luck with your new friend.

My two year old Fox terrier refuses to eat or drink. I took him to the vet yesterday and had xray's and bloodwork done on him to check for a vuirus or blockage in his stomach, but both came back as negative. However, he still refuses to eat or drink. He remains active and energetic. Any ideas,...

Do I Drink Too Much?

Ok so I really like drinking, if it were up to me I would drink 24/7. I usually drink on weekends and if so, I drink a lot. Like I'll have up to 6 or 7 drinks of my own. If I happen to have the money to buy booze on a weekday I will but I drink less then (like 3 or 4 drinks) but only because of the...
