Is my boyfriend cheap? Does he care?
Don't know if I'm overreacting... my boyfriend hyped up my birthday saying that he was "saving money for my birthday" and that he had "a suprise". Well I couldn't be in town on the day of my birthday and the day he was planning to do everything was on my mom's birthday lol. SO... he told me what he had planned: waxing my car, a gift for me at his grandparents and a picnic on the beach. I loved the idea... he did wax my car which was very sweet, but we never made it to the beach. The day we were going to go to the beach, we got up late. Then he said the next day we would go to the beach. He set his alarm but neither of us woke up. When we did get up it was still fairly early and, he said that he was really hungry so if I didn't mind us eating at the house... and then we could go to the beach. It's like what is the point of a romantic beach picnic then? Lol.
Ok that kind of upset me but I can understand, he's just not romantic. I guess. HOWEVER I never got a present. SO I told him since times were tough, just forget my present and we'll exchange nice Xmas gifts. Ok don't know what is going on here-- is he trying to get out of this? Doesn't stick to his word? I had dropped hints that I liked flowers and he said he went to pick some up but they didn't have my favorite flower (tulips). Geez I'm not that picky. I'd just be happy if he plucked some crap out of the ground lol! It's the thought... I'm just worried that I'm going to give him a nice gift for Christmas and what if he does the same crap--and I don't get a present? I'll be embarrassed, hurt and disrespected. It's not about the "gift" it's about reciprocity. |

This is what I can say to you. If you'll have a nice gift to him & you don't know if he doesn't or doesn't have then never give him the gift unless he gives his first. That was my plan. I'm planning to give my boyfriend a nice gift that he would really love but then you know how boys are. So I planned that I'd give him my gift after he gives his to me. But if he doesn't have any gift to me, the I will never give my gift to him, it's EMBARRASSING.hahah |
