    Maytag Wide by Side Freezer with Frost
    Our freezer has been building up frost on all the frozen items and the ice cream and juice have gone soft. Today I noticed there is water dripping from the bottom of the ice reservoir. Cold air seems to be blowing into the fridge section and I hear fans running. Any ideas?

    You have a defrost system malfunction. The system consists of a defrost heater,timer and a defrost bimetal thermostat.

    When ever I serviced these units I always replaced all 3 pieces to prevent a return service call in a month or so .

    Thanks for the information. Do repairmen usually carry all these parts with them? Also about how much do these repairs usually cost? Thanks!

    The parts can cost 125 to 150 and they usually have to pick them up at a supply house. Labor?
