    Whirlpool wahser with no spin
    I have an 11 year old whirlpool washer that works fine until its placed in the spin cycle, and then it makes a grinding noise... need help,. no money to call repairman

    I hate to say this but it is a good possibility the transmission is going out. This can be very expensive to repair.

Whirlpool Gold gsq9364hqo doesn't always spin on the spin cycle. The motor runs but the basket doesn't spin. If I lift the lid the motor stops, then something (clutch or pawl?) catches and if I put the lid back down than it starts spinning correctly every time. Any ideas?
