    Safety and Landlords obligations?
The townhouse Im renting was recently burglarized. The thieves entered by kicking in the front door. I requested that the landlord 1)fix the damaged door frame and 2) Install security doors. The door frame was cosmetically fixed, but could easily be breached again, and the landlord has flat refused to install security doors. (or offered to install an alarm, or anything else for that matter). A couple weeks later the house was vandalized. Short of just packing up and breaking the lease, what are my options, if any? I was never informed of this area being particularly high crime (it seemed nice enough), but apparently it is. Is the landlord required to do anything? I live in Nevada.

You can pay for a alarm system, the new wireless can be done in rental units. Even use a monitoring service.

Offer to pay part of the cost of the difference between a standard door and a security door.

Depending on the level of repair, he does not have a obligatoin to upgrade it from its condition at time of rental.
