My moms on Viacodin. What are the effects?
Can anyone tell me about Viacodin. My mother who is 62 has really bad knees, she has not cartilage. And she has not had health insurance for years but is getting it this year to get knee replacement.

She tells me that she takes about 2 Viacodin a day to help her deal with pain and that she is not addicted. With that she also takes a horse pill of ibuprofuen.

She does have an addictive personality. I'm looking to hear other people's stories. What are their long term effects? I noticed that her skin is getting their weird rashes, she is forgetful and sometimes goes on these laughing bouts or says weird things.

Any advice would be much appreciated
    Thank you

I am on Vicodin even now for knee pain.

Vicodin also referred to as Hydrocodone is widely prescribed for pain relief.

Acetaminophen and hydrocodone - Yahoo! Health

Look closely at the side effects and possible overdosing with other medications.

    Hope this helps.

My mom was taking too much because she is losing her memory and did not remember taking it. She got sleepy. A rash developed on her leg, it turned out to be cellulitis which is a bad skin infection. A hemagloginA1C test showed that her blood sugar had been too high for quite a while. High blood sugar can cause all sorts of trouble.

Two vicodin a day is not much. Is that all she is taking? What other medication is she taking? As KBC said, the drug combination can affect outcomes. A pharmacist can help you figure out combination issues. Ask at the pharmacy, they are knowledgeable and the help is free. Remember to mention caffeine, nicotine and herbs too, if these are involved.

    The strength is also important.
