    Real Estate Condo Law
I purchased a condo (1/2 Duplex) and it is deeded as one condo because the original owner purchased it as a two family then separated it as two condo's. I purchased one and someone else bought the other. Our fire insurance policy comes as one policy, meaning both of our units on the same policy. How can we change the deed so that they are independent from one another?

?? No the deed would have had to be changed before you bought it, in fact you can not legally buy just 1/2 if the deed was not divided. You could not have had the deed signed over to you, if there is no correct deed??

Next it will be up to zoning if the deed can even be divided, so please don't buy or pay them mony till the deed is divided by the seller first.
