That sounds great! As far as a location, if you check with some schools or colleges even that have gymnasiums, some will let you rehearse/practice there for a small fee or even free of charge. I don't know where you're located... If there is a local theatre where you might be interested in putting on a performance for charity work or along those lines, again they may let you use their stage in that case. Hotels also have halls/room for usage but you'd have to call around and see what they would charge you if they would even charge you. If everyone chips in with you, it won't be too bad as far as the money. As far as keeping everyone motivated, that's a tough one. If dancers know that they are indeed going to be performing eventually or are working on a specific project for a show, hopefully that would work. It almost sounds as if you'd need something in writing for them to sign but I know that could be uncomfortable and you don't want to pressure anyone. Sad thing is, there shouldn't be any pressure felt on the dancers' part if it is something they love to do. It's also tough in these times right now. I also have been thinking, but only thinking so far about trying to do the very same thing. I choreograph in my sleep for Pete's sake. I also have lots of ideas but getting started is the hard part. I'm going to check back to see if maybe I can learn from some of the answers that will be submitted to you and I'm also curious for you. I wish you the very best of luck and don't give up your dream if this is one of them.

Its difficult to give you an exact answer for location. If you are located in a big city, do some research and I bet you can find a number of dance studios that would rent you a space. Call around. You may also find that public libraries and such has separate rooms that they rent out. But you have to be careful as some of the "non-dance studio" spaces are often carpeted and not conducive to dancing. Studios have hardwood floors or marley floors and that would be better to dance on.

You don't say what kind of a dance group you have. What kind of dance? What level?
A dance company is not just for anybody who feels like having one. Finding a location is not difficult. Filling it with talent is another story.
I would be interested in knowing what you and your group has to offer artistically.
