Image errors on single site
There is one site that I have been trying to access for a few days. Gaiaonline.com. For some reason it won't show any images, just text. I have tried creating a new user and also trying Firefox, but to no avail.
Every site, but the one mentioned above, has no problem with loading or showing images of any kind, and I am at a loss of how to correct it. Also as a note, I don't think anyone else is having the same problems with this site.

Hi,
Can only guess. Went to the site with no problem, not my"cup ot tea," but to each his/hers own.
I can only assume that it is a local problem by the description. My solution is "radical" and not convenient. Open IE, choose Tools from the Menu bar and Internet Options. Then clear the History, Temp and Cookie files. I feel that the last is the problem and it is not convenient as no site will remember your user name if they did before until they put a new cookie in your browser.
Sorry it so radical!
Peace,
Clarke

Since you say you've had this problem in two different browsers (IE and Firefox), my guess is the site images are being blocked either on your PC or at the server. You can, for example, set up a firewall (like Norton Personal Firewall) to block images of certain standard sizes (because those are often used for advertising). Similarly there could be rules in a firewall on the server for blocking images meeting certain criteria.
If you're accessing the site from a school or library, you might check with the system admins to see why the site's being blocked.
I can view the images on the various pages that don't require a login with no trouble on a Mac using Safari and Firefox.

Odd, that it would work in Firefox on the Mac but not in Windows...

Hi,
Just for kicks I tried it on my Win 98SE custom test machine. It will give errors over any non-wellformed Flashor JavaScript. Works in IE6, Firefox2 and Opera9.
Peace,
Clarke

I ran the home page through the W3 validator using HTML 4.01 strict and got 26 errors. There's also a comment in the code soliciting job applications for a PHP/HTML/CSS/javascript guru.
So I think the cause of the problem is a badly coded site. :)

Some more information that hopefully could help.
Yesterday I played around a bit with Firefox and as soon as I turn off java script in options the site would load really quick. Later I installed newest java version and all of a sudden the site worked for 90% not everything was loaded but we were close.
This morning windows updated and installed sp3 and it stopped working all together again.
Uninstalling sp3 and going back to before with system restore both didn't help we are fully back at the no images at all.
If I look at the status bar when trying to load the site it has a big problem contacting 2 adresses w.cdn.gaiaonline.com and s2.cdn.gaiaonline.com. I get one or sometimes 2 errors in the Firefox error console saying "s is not defined" last time it was in line 663.
Tried to reinstall Firefox and java after system restore and also tried opera but nothing helped.
I included a attachement of a screenshot how the site shows up for me
Thanks for all the help so far and I hope some one can figure it out.

I'm afraid the solution is to contact the Gaiaonline site and ask them to fix the programming errors on their site. There's really nothing you can do on your end to fix their programming problems. If there are 26 errors in their HTML code, my guess is that they have problems in their javascript and java code as well. That's why they're advertising in their code for a "guru" - to fix their messed up code.
