    Outdoor Play Sets
I am looking into getting an outdoor play set for my kids. Does anyone have any experience with the sets at Walmart? They look nice and get good reviews and are affordable. The one thing I don't like about them is they use 2x4s as supports and framing. I'd like to use 4x4s in their place.

Anyone have experience doing this with a play set made from 2x4s?

Bought some from Menards and Home Depot but not WalMart. The big stores sell a variety of brands and everyone I have seen meets safety codes. A 2x4 may appear weak but they design bracing that makes everything strong and tight, just follow the directions. At Menards you can buy the complete kit with wood pre-cut or a box of hardware and a wood supply list that they can put for you. The pre-cut was listed at $1000 and the kit with wood was $500, I saved half by doing my own cutting.

Well from my experiens it's that walmart playsets aren't that great. I bought one for my kids and after a few years started to fall apart from weathering and the little bit of play they did on it. I had to paint it and the boards warped more than once. I ended building my own.
