    Rent payment during foreclosure
This week I found a notice on my door stating the house I rent is going to be sold at an auction next month. I have been living there for over 1 year. My question is Do I still have to pay the landlord rent. I have made many attempts to contact them to figure out what is going on but they keep on giving me the runaround?

I've been in the real estate industry here in Georgia for many years. I can not provide legal advice but it sounds to me like your landlord is in trouble financially.

I can't advise you not to pay your rent, but I would bet dollars to nickles that within a couple months you'll get a visit from the sheriff telling you that you got to get out of the house. Depending on how far along the process is you could have anywhere from a couple days to many months before someone visits you to tell you you need to leave.

It's a sad and unfortunate situation when tenants are doing what they're supposed to and paying their rent and then get the short end of the stick anyway. Unfortunately there is little that you can do about it, that I'm aware of. I'd say there is a very high probability your landlord is just taking your money and using it to pay other bills or just to live on. If he were using your money to pay the mortgage on the house like he's supposed to, you wouldn't be in this situation.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

The relationship between your landlord and his lending institution has no legal bearing on your duty to pay rent. As long as the landlord is the legal owner, you are required to pay.
