Im going to pick out a new toilet for my new bathroom. They range in prices between $75.00 to $350.00. Should I get a well known name brand or if I go cheap I'll regret it with poor quality?? Any ideas?:confused:

Kohler, American Standard and Toto are 3 names that come to mind right away!

Price range for most homes is between $110 to $200ish... normally. These toilets are usually very good toilets...

Like the Kohler wellworth ($120ish)
American Standard cadet3 ($150ish)
American Standard champion ($200ish)
And as far as I'm concerned almost anything by Toto ($120 - $350). Toto is usually only sold at plumbing supply houses.

If you never want to think of a backed up toilet again Kohler makes a very reliable pressure-assisted toilet that'll just knock your socks off! Flushes like a commercial toilet with a flushometer WITHOUT the flushometer... about $350.00ish (Called the highline... K4519-0 for white bowl and tank)... repairs can be expensive here, however... :( But nice toilet otherwise.

Never go with a no-name brand. They are almost always missing the siphon jet hole at base of inside toilet bowl! That is a bad thing!

I am sure others will chime in here... so many choices!

I like Vortens. They work very well for a reasonable price. $100 It's what I have in my house and what we use at my work unless there is a specific need for something more serious. The stock guts are a bit on the cheap side, but when they wear out (several years) you can replace them with Fluidmaster and except for an occasional flapper, forget about them. Use real brass tank bolts I don't care what brand toilet you buy.

Briggs makes a decent large flapper model. $165 or so. These flush really well, but are a bit more expensive to maintain because of that odd flapper.

The Toto Drake is my favorite if money is no problem. $250 - $275 IIRC. It's a large flapper model too, but we (my day job) have no more problem with these than our Kohler pressure-assist units and those Kohlers are noisy.

In an effort to save money my old boss had me install some cheaper toilets and we started getting complaints that they were sweating. Condensation from the tank all over the floor.
