    1993 Honda Civic--cranks without starting
Hi. Brand new forum user here. I have been reading some posts on this topic and have performed quite a few tests. My 1993 Honda Civic DX coupe(DB157 engine with 230,000 miles on it) quit running on the interstate last week. I noticed a small amount of smoke under the hood when I opened it and it smelled a little bit like burned rubber. Had it towed home. Top of engine moves so it's not the timing belt. No spark to the plugs (light tester). Replaced the ICM-still not running. Found this site and performed the ignition system troubleshooting as outlined in section B of the maintaining Hondas section. I will try to mark in red the tests that failed or looked questionable.

    1. Ignition on, CEL goes off after 2 seconds and hear the click of the main relay as well as the fuel pump running while the CEL is on.

    2. Checked fuses--all fuses under hood had 12V with the ignition on. Fuses under dash that failed: #9(rt headlight high beam), 10(left headlight high beam), 18(ECM, PGM-FI main relay), 19(dash, tail and parking lights), 21(rt. headlight low beam), 22(left headlight low beam), 24(SRS unit or ECM, alternator) had no voltage when tested. I don't know what to think about this.
    3. No trouble codes in ECM.

    4. No spark during spark test with light. Car doesn't have a tachometer. (Ignition on) Power to distributor test checks out OK. ICM test (ignition on)with the new part show only 7V between the black/yellow wire and ground--should this be 12V? (Ignition on) White/blue wire to ground shows 11.6V. (Ignition on) Yellow/green wire from ECM to shows no voltage when grounded. (Ignition on) blue wireto ICM to ground shows no voltage. Checked the coil and it shows primary resistance at 1.1ohms (spec is 0.6 -0.8ohms) and the secondary resistance at 10.5 Kohms (spec is 12.8 - 19.2Kohms) I'm thinking I should replace the coil.

The coil test bothers me some because of the secondary resistance being so out of spec (tested a new one at autozone and it had primary= 1.1ohms and secondary around 15Kohms). But then there is the problem with the fuses which doesn't seem like it could be related to the coil. I took my ECM out (probably not a great idea) and was going to try to get it tested at the dealership.

I know this is extremely wordy but I feel I am pretty close to kicking this thing and wanted to have all the information out there up front so as to not have to wait too long. Thanks. Any help is appreciated!
