    Erase CD With Vista?
How do I erase a re-wrightable CD using Vista? When I place a CD with recorded files on it in the CD tray a list of options comes on screen that doesnīt include "erase CD".

In windows explorer, right click on the cd drive and see if the erase option is there

Need to make sure that is a CD-RW disc and also, when the data was originally put on that CD-RW, you would need to know if the disc was finalized, meaning no further changes will be allowed to the disc

Here is another option to erase cd

To erase all of the files on a disc

    1. Insert the CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, or DVD-RAM disc into your computer's CD or DVD burner.

2.Open Computer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Computer.

3.Click the drive icon that represents your writeable drive, and then, on the toolbar, click Erase this disc.

Follow the steps in the Erase Disc Wizard.

Sounds good and I would know how to follow the instructions if I had Windows XP but Vista seems to be different and I canīt find the options mentioned.

Honestly, don't bother with rewritable CD's as single write discs as so cheap now it's not really worth it anymore.

If you truly have a need for rewritable media think about a pen/flash drive instead as multi GIG drives are extremely cheap and store a lot more information than a CD.

If it is a CD-RW, the option will be there in windows explorer if you right click on the drive and look for erase, if not in the options, Windows does not detect it as CD-RW (which might mean the disc was finalized when files were written to it)

The info in quotes above are also done in windows explorer, if the option is not there, system probably does not recognize it as a re-writable disc.

To confirm, see if you can take it to a XP PC if you have access and see if these options may be avail there

Ok that worked very well. Thank you. Regarding my CD-RW I was transferring files to a new computer and had it laying around. I will keep the sugestion about non-rewrightable disks in mind for the next time.
