My fiancés 2 girl's mother is an oxy contin and heroin addict. She did drugs throughout bother her pregnancies. The youngest one was born with a strong prescription drug in her system (xanax). Currently she is on supervised visitation. She has been caught several times lately high when she drops off the kids and also when she shows up at functions. How hard is it to get her rights terminated? What do we need to prove to the courts? It's hard to catch her in the act because she is very sneaky. We have been keeping a journal but other than that all we have is the proof of the youngest being born with drugs in her system. I know it's hard to prove a mother unfit. How do we do this? I would like to adopt the girls when we get married, but in order to do that she would have to be out of the picture. Is it possible?

Are social workers involved, is the child neglested, what is your situation e.g. employed etc. I have had personal experience in this area so please reply

She is using when the children are in her care (even though she is supposed to be supervised by her parents, they are naïve and are in denial that she still gets high). He currently has full custody of the girls and she has visitation every other weekend. Social workers aren't involved any more because he already got full custody. What we are worried about is in a year (June) she is able to fight for 50/50 custody given that she has been sober after completing her treatment program and stayed sober for a year. We keep seeing her showing signs of being high, smelling pill smoke on her and the kids, her friends call us and tell us she is buying straight heroin now because it's cheaper than oxy contin etc. She is supposed to take Urine Analysis tests at her treatment place but they don't watch her and she passes using synthetic urine they sell at pot smoker shops. We found some bottles of fake urine in the house that she had stashed when she had lived there before.

Oh and both me and my fiancé are full time employed. She has never had a job (that I know of) and she lives with her parents. She is under the impression that she will be able to get a free house etc "when she gets 50/50 custody of the kids" from government assistance. She is looking forward to child support once that happens too (probably so she'll have money to buy more drugs). She has had a few dui's one of which was when the children were in the car with her. This was all before he got full custody also, so I don't know if we can use it against her next year.
