if I wanted to find the amount of moles of oxygen gas produced during a decomposition reaction, given the pressure, temperature and volume. Could I change the ideal gas equation "pv=nrt" to make n the subject? How would I rearrange this equation? :confused:

try dividing both sides by rt, you can do this because you are effectively multiplying one side by $\frac{rt}{rt} = 1$ which doesn't affect the result.

so $\frac{pv}{rt}=\frac{nrt}{rt}$

It should be trivial to simplify and see that this gives you what you need.

You could also plug in your given values, then solve like an ordinary math question.

This is very frowned upon - as it introduces calculator errors - in general, best practice is to enter numbers as late as possible.
