    Bankrupty and retiring
:confused:I live in Ohio, as 2009 we will have to file bankrupty. My husband income is to high now and he will be without a job until employment comes in and he will then drawing it. He is 57yrs old. He will get his six weeks of vacation which will be 5500. And 20,000 dure to them doing away with his job. We do not have our house paid off. We have decided to live in our camper at a camping area that is free. For a while. Now, we were told to file after we no longer had any money left. We do not want to spend our money so how can we keep our money from bankrupty court and when can we file bankrupty. We also want to know can we put the money in a grandchild name? Any answer would be helpful.
    Thanks

I do not entirely understand your post. What I do understand is, and correct me if I am wrong, your husband makes too much money, but will be unemployed soon and will be accessing his unemployment insurance from the government. Am I correct so far ? Okay, He will get his vacation pay out of $5500 and his entire payout of $20,000 because he accepted a retirement package.

If you have a house, and equity in the house , $5500 vacation pay $25,000 pay out and unemployment insurance to access, why do you have to claim bankruptcy ?

And you want to hide your money and claim bankruptcy so you can keep the money. Is that right ?

It doesn't seem right to me, it sounds subversive and fraudulent.

Yes, you are right about the pay. I fell on the ice in January I have a lot of medince and medical bill. He also has a lot medince. We won't have enough equity in our house and this house and ulitiees bills cost a month 1400. A month does not include cable, internet, phone. Our house is way to big and house in this area aren't selling and a lot of empty. Yes, it may seem wrong to hide the money but, look at the real picture not just half please. Thanks

I'm sorry, but I don't think it would be ethical for us to tell you how to "hide" your money. You'll just have to figure that out on your own.

Strange heading to your post. Bankruptcy and retiring. At 57 I don't think your husband could draw any sort of retirement yet.

I am not worried hiding money. Yes, my husband has worked over 34yrs. At the same place. I am more worried about not have a dime if we file bankrupty after he retires.
We have no family left and no place to go but, our camper. To a free camp ground.
We need our money for medicne. Yes, we have friends we could stay with but, we aren't the type of people that wants depend on anybody for anything.
    Thanks:o

First is your house payment so high you can't afford to keep the house? You are allowed certain amounts of equity in the house.

You are also allowed certain amounts of money.

But no you can not legally hide money, and if they find it, they will stop the bankruptcy and not allow you to file
