    Why is my oil leaking?
I have a 2002 fod taurus with about 110000 miles on it and just today after driving to work I had noticed oil under my car, a lot of oil. I checked the oil level and I lost about two quarts after driving maybe 10miles and parking. I moved my car from the one space with all the oil and into a new space and now after about 3hrs there is only maybe a hand size spot under my car. What could be causing it to do that?

It's not uncommon, when the oil filter is changed, for the old oil filter gasket to adhere to the engine block. Obviously, the new oil filter can't seal properly and oil is blown out. It's important to account for the old gasket, when the filter is changed, which is not always done at oil change outfits. Location of oil spot should give you a clue where the leak is coming from.

If you notice a lot of oil around the filter, remove the filter and check things out. Otherwise, the filter may not have been tightened enough. Check the oil drain plug, too.
