    My Matag fridge not defrosting
    Hi all
I have a top freezer MTB1553AR and I noticed that it is not defrosting I have to open the covers in the freezer and use a hair dryer to melt the ice out of the evaporator.

So first is there a way to test if the thermostat is working? Second is there a way to manually start the defrost process so to bypass the thermostat and would test the rest of the defrost system? Third is there anyting else I should be looking at?

    Thanks in Advance

You have a defrost circuit problem. Heater, timmer or defrost termination thermostat are defective. Items need to be tested to see which is bad I always replaced all 3 to make sure it was fixed.
