Have a well - water pressure surges and the pressure switch kicks in and out every 2 to 3 seconds. Thanks in advance for any help!! Bing

Well you have to tell us a little more than that. What kind of pump surface or submerged? What kind of tank pressure or bladder? How big? What are pressure readings on gauge or does it happen to fast for the gauge to respond? Does this happen all the time or just when water is being used?

First thought is water logged tank.

If pressure tank;
Turn off pump, open faucet. If you have drain valve on tank or input line open that. If not you will have to open something on the tank or input line to let air in tank for water to drain out. After drain all water from tank, close every thing and turn pump on.

If a bladder tank, you have a ruptured bladder.

A temporary fix.

Turn pump off. Open faucet. Pressurize tank to push all water out. You will know when all water is out when you have air coming out of faucet. Close faucet. Pressurize tank to 2 lbs below the cut-in pressure of switch. Turn on pump. Replace tank at first opportunity. Water may or may not have an odor to it depending on interior coating of tank.

Do this now or you will burn up pump motor.

HK, as usual, hit the nail on the head. I would only emphasize the part about when this happens. If it is happening 24/7, then you would be looking at a bad check valve somewhere or possibly a leak in a pipe, though that is not likely.

On the other hand, if this only happens when you are using water, then the pressure tank is the more likely culprit.

I have a mix of both answers although I like Jlisenbes answer best. If the pump kicks on every time you flush or draw a glass of water then you have a faulty bladder tank or a water logged pressure tank.
If the pump kicks on by itself every few minutes then you have a faulty check or foot valve. Good luck. Tpm
