    Unfit Parents
A close friend of mine and her husband have separated. This past Monday he filed for divorce and residential custody of their children. He was awarded the custody saying she was unfit and on drugs. Both parents have issues with alcohol and being faithful to one another. In my opinion her alcohol problem is worse than the fathers. However he's letting his oldest son stay with his mother and his daughter at his Grandmother's. The children are being separated unable to see each other or their mother without supervision. The oldest is 5 and the little girl is a year. He has never had much to do with his children. The mother on the other hand would leave every night after the kids and her husband were in bed and would party. Then take the oldest school and sleep off the night before. Their house is always a disaster with molded food everywhere. And the children are mostly at babysitters. In your opinion will either parent get custody or will they be awarded to the state?

No way to tell what a judge will do. Generally they want to try and keep them with family, but they are supposed to consider the best interests of the child.
