laptop with little or no connectivity
I have recently turned my laptop back to factory condition and since then have been able to get little or no connectivity even though my roommates have had no problems. I have noticed that I get some connectivity when I start up AIM instant messenger but other than that it is at 0.00% or 0.02% of 100mb. It will randomly move up in percentage once in a great while and I have no idea how to fix this problem any help would be much appreciated.

After you returned the laptop to factory condition, did you reenter all the network settings on your network adapter that are specific to your local network, wired or wireless?

Well, first determine what the settings are by logging into your router and looking at the LAN configuration or looking at a roommate's network adapter settings and copying them.

Then, open your network adapter's properties via Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right-click the adapter, choose 'Properties'. Select 'Internet Protocol' in the list and choose 'Properties' button. The settings will either be set to 'Obtain... automatically' or have static addressing configured. The "Obtain...automatically" should work as long as the router has DHCP enabled. Otherwise, copy your roommate's settings and change the IP address value to something unique. For example, if the router address is 192.168.1.1, and your roommates' are 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3, yours could be 192.168.1.4.
