    Upgrading a 100 amp to a 200 amp
I just bought my first house and I've received different advice from my inspector and different electricians about the need to upgrade my breaker panel from a 100 amp to a 200 amp. My home is approximately 1800 square feet. We only have a high efficiency washer/dryer, a refrigerator and 2 small tv's. There is a pool that was an add on from the original owners 20 years ago but that seems to have it's own sub-panel so I'm not sure if we really need to incur that expense. I had another electrican tell me today that my wires all seem fine in my box and there seems to be no need to do anything at this time unless we plan on installing some large equipment in the house... please advise

If it isn't broke, don't break it...

Did the inspector give you any reason why you should upgrade?

If your main isn't popping and the electrician says your wiring looks fine then leave it alone. You could start saving for a time you might need it, but I wouldn't have it done just yet. Unless you start adding more appliances, air conditioning, electric heat, electric hot water heater, etc. you are fine.

Upgrading to USB 2.0 [ 3 Answers ]

I have a Gateway 710XL tower purchased in 2003 (guess that makes it old). All of the USB ports (2 in front, 4 in back) are USB 1.0 and I would like to upgrade to USB 2.0. Can I do that with some sort of connection "card" or is that a function handled in the motherboard (MoBo) as my geek squad says?...
