    Relationships and Taxes
Yeah, so I just wanted to know... if you are a nice guy, buy your girl presents here and there, but later she dumps you for not having a lot more money and spoiling her constantly; can you write off the gifts you did buy on your taxes as a gambling loss? Did I post this in the wrong forum? Should I post this in the Taxes forum?

    ... I hope this is a joke.

No, you cannot write off the gifts as a tax exemption unless it was some sort of a charity/religious organization.

You could always try. If the guy filing your taxes has a funny bone I think you might slide by!

Only do that when you want to get in trouble. You don't want to get in trouble with the IRS.

If this was the case many people would be doing this.

By the way, gambling losses are from gambling. Gambling is anything from lottery, raffles, horse races, and casinos. Even though you took a gamble with this relationship you can't use your gifts as a deductions. Next time be careful with your spending

Lol, what could be worse than getting dumped, and thrown in jail for tax fraud! Forget it.
