I just bought a house and I am trying to find information about my houses history... things that have happened here and so forth... does anybody know where I can find this information?

Check with your local public library and the area's historical museum. Either place may keep a file on your house along with photos over the years. Also, check with those two places about the land on which your house was built. Perhaps it had been a cemetery or the scene of a battle. If either place can't help you, ask them where else might you look for information about your house and property.

We checked with the local town hall and found info on our plot plan and survey info. Info who owned the land, etc. Interesting since it is an old house. We found pretty detailed info.

If your town has a county archives, check there. A friend of mine works at ours and found all kinds of info on a house I bought that was built in 1906. Especially if your house has any historical significance, often families donate old photos, clippings, etc relating to your house and the archives will catalog them for your ease of finding them.
