I have a bathroom sink that will not drain. First I tried Draino. Five trips to Lowe's later, I have replaced the whole sink (needed it anyway), all the pipes to the wall, increased the water pressure and even snaked out the wall pipes. Now that the whole bugger is reassembled, I still can't get water to drain. Any ideas?

Ebhampe - THE drain pipe is probably stopped up between the sink on the cross drain going to the tub or the main sewer line under your toilet , I don't know how far you snaked the drain but you may have not gone far enough. The tub shower drain should have a " T " in the line and then goes on tio the maionsewer drain, TRy snaking from the tub drain with a small snake. Since you have replaced everything then I won't say to check the sink drain trap under the sink . Good luck and GOD BLESS F.B.E.

When you snaked the drain... how far did you snake the drain line?

Here, about 1/2 the time you send a snake down a lavatory drain pipe the snake will go UP the vent as much as it will go down the drain... so need to be aware of that.. ok?

Further, what kind of snake are you using? If using a small hand-held snake then may be better to go rent a hand-hald ELECTRIC snake (get leather gloves and safety goggles as well as you used DRANO! )... see picture below.

Hopefully snake will come with a couple different heads. Use the DROP HEAD attachment first and then send snake out say 6-8 feet maximum.

If these tips don't work then you may need to send snake further out.. depending on the layout of your bathroom... but basically, drain pipe should not go any farther away than the toilet pipe is (lav. Connects to toilet pipe... usually! ).

Finally, you may need to go into attic and cut open the VENT pipe for the lavatory and snake drain that way... worst case!

Do not snake the tub drain as suggested above (sorry FBE) unless you have issue with tub... such as water backing into it from the sink... ok? Just not necessary here!
